Daisy Tsenesa (USAP Community School Class of 2021) was recently awarded a 2026 Zonta Women in STEM Award. She is one of 16 women selected globally in recognition of their work in STEM.

"Being named one of the 16 international recipients of the Zonta Women in STEM Award is truly humbling. It feels less like a personal achievement and more like a moment to pause and appreciate how far a journey can go with the right support and guidance.
I am currently an undergraduate student at Ashesi University, studying Computer Science. My current research focuses on artificial intelligence, specifically exploring computer-use agents and their potential to create meaningful, real-world impact. More broadly, I am interested in how emerging technologies can support everyday business practices and improve access to solutions that people rely on. Alongside this, I co-founded SheaGlow, a health-tech startup that uses AI to support individuals managing skin conditions, with a focus on accessibility and practical impact.
This recognition reflects the many people and communities that have shaped me. I am deeply grateful to the mentors who challenged me, the peers who encouraged me, and Ashesi University for providing spaces that have allowed me to grow with curiosity and confidence.
As I look ahead, I am most excited to continue exploring and contributing to this field, deepening my research, asking better questions, and building on what I learn. I also hope to contribute, in whatever way I can, to making STEM more accessible to young women who are just beginning to see themselves in it".

The Zonta Women in STEM Award uplifts innovation and celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of women between 18-35 years of age in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields and acknowledge their groundbreaking research, pioneering discoveries, and/or exemplary contributions to advancing knowledge and innovation in a STEM field. By recognizing and supporting these exceptional women, Zonta aims to inspire future generations and foster inclusivity and diversity in the world of STEM. Zonta International offers 16 international awards of US$10,000 each and a complimentary one-year supporting membership in Zonta International for the next financial year.

Daisy is also a Zimbabwe Career Connect Internship alum and completed an internship in 2025 at UnCommon.org.
