TWEENS
Together We Can Educationally Empower Non-privileged Students (TWEENS) is an organization founded and run by refugees for refugees that targets youth in Tongogara Refugee Camp in Chipinge, Zimbabwe.
TWEENS was launched during the COVID lockdowns of 2020-21 as a peer tutoring program by refugee Advanced Level students attending Education Matters’ USAP Community School as their service learning and Capstone projects.
Close to 5 years later, TWEENS is a vibrant centre for after school programmes, education outreach, a girls’ book club, homework assistance, service learning, and the 2023 new addition, an A level programme.
Mission
Promote education in Tongogara Refugee Camp.
Aims
- Increase the pass rate of refugee students at the ‘O’ Level national exams
- Reduce the incidents of school dropouts
- Raise awareness for educational opportunities
- Provide alternative ways to continue education to youth who have lost hope


AFS Intercultural Programs
AFS Intercultural Programs is a nonprofit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities through international exchange programs. AFS empowers young people to become global citizens by facilitating high school exchange experiences, volunteer opportunities, and educational programs that promote cross-cultural understanding and peace. With a presence in more than 60 countries, AFS helps participants develop leadership skills and a deeper appreciation for global diversity.

HALI
The HALI (High Achieving Low-Income) program is a collaborative initiative that identifies and supports exceptional students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Africa. The program helps these students gain access to world-class universities by providing academic guidance, college counseling, test preparation, and mentorship. HALI partners work to bridge the opportunity gap and empower students to become leaders in their communities.
